Fall Weekend OOTD!

Hello! It’s only Saturday night, but I had quite an eventful Thursday & Friday, SO I’m calling that my weekend 🙂 I wanted to share an OOTD with you all! This was Thursday night. My sisters, mom & I road tripped up to northern MN to watch our favorite country artist Kip Moore play. It was amazing as always. If you haven’t heard of him PLEASE check him out. He’s beyonddddd talented and just an overall genuine, humble guy.

Friday night we headed back to Minneapolis, and went to his concert there as well! (we are obsessed.. yes.) We were lucky enough to go onto his tour bus with him and listen to his new album coming out in the spring (still convinced it was a dream).

2016 I Love Fall TAG!

It’s TIME! My favorite season is upon us, and I’ve already been enjoying it SO much!  I tag everyone! I love these type posts & especially all things fall!

Happy Fall Y’all!

1.)  Bath and Body Works candles or Yankee candles?

Bath and Body Works! Fall candles are the best no matter where they are from.. but B&BW has some of my all time favs: Here are my top 3!

  1. SWEATER WEATHER. OK stocking up on this and burning it year round. By far my favorite candle scent EVER. It’s so crisp & clean and makes the ENTIRE house smell good.
  2. Marshmallow Fireside. Yum. Smells like marshmallow-y outdoors.
  3. Flannel. My Fiance loves this one the most! It’s got a cologne smell, but not too over powering. Just the right amount of cuddly goodness.

2.)  Fav fall accessory?

These booties! Snatched them up for $27.99 at TJMaxx & been wearing them constantly since the weather has gotten cooler. I LOVE booties for fall.

3.) Uggs or Moccasins?

I’ve never owned either.. but probably the slipper type moccasins.

4.) Fuzzy socks or knee socks?

Fuzzy!

5.) North Face or Columbia?

North Face.

6.)  Favorite Fall food?

Soooo many.  Comfort food wise I love stuffing and mashed potatoes.. for sweets I love apple crisp & pumpkin pie!

7.)  Red or Pink lips?

Pink/nude. I never have worn red lips before!

8.) Winged eyeliner or bold eyeshadow?

Bold eyeshadow. Darker browns & maroons are fun in the fall!

9.) Apple pie or brownies?

Apple CRISP. With vanilla ice cream ❤

10.) Would you rather cook the food or eat it?

I’m not a good cook.. so I’m going with eat it. However, in the fall I do get the itch now and then to make semi-homemade goodies 🙂

Wedding Details: 30 Day Countdown

Today marks 30 days until I’m a married woman! Honestly seems like just yesterday we got engaged… Where does time go? I wanted to share some of my favorite gift ideas, DIY’s and wedding prep tips. Hope you enjoy!

  • Gift Ideas: Personalization!

I love personalized gifts. Here are some I have so far:

  • Utilize ETSY!

Etsy has been my bestfriend through wedding planning. From bridesmaid jewelry to seating chart templates, they seriously have it all. I’ve found so many easy-to-use templates that make having gorgeous hand outs and unique seating charts simple! Most come in different size PDF’s that you populate with your information and there you have it! I plan to share my final printouts when they are complete 🙂

  • Organize & Keep up on RSVP’s!

You can’t have too many lists. I have multiple lists of the same items and trust me.. I need them all! There are so many helpful checklist books out there. Use them! They have helped me keep on track & plus it’s fun to check off as you go 🙂

Don’t be afraid to bug your guests about returning their RSVP’s! You will want to know an exact number in attendance for multiple reasons. The way I’ve kept track is printing a list of all the invitees, and putting the number attending next to the name.. As they come in the mail I keep it updated.. then you don’t fall behind and end up scrambling last minute for a final number!

Anyone else planning a wedding? What are your tips? It’s been a fun process, but I’m at the point where I’m ready for the planning to be over, and to just be married ❤

Detox Water: Grapefruit +Strawberry + Lemon

image2

I’m super excited to share this delicious detox water recipe with you! Lately I’ve been on a water binge. Sounds silly, but I’ve been trying to consume 80-100 oz. of water per day. That means getting very creative with flavoring my water, and many many trips to the bathroom (I pee every 15 min.. not joking) Lets start with some background.. the words “Detox” and “Toxins” had little meaning to me a few weeks ago. After doing some research about the benefits of Detox Water, and just water in general.. they now have a new meaning!

Your body is actually pretty good at detoxifying without the help of any expensive supplements.. all you need is water and fruit! Also, one of the great things about these detox water recipes is that they sweeten up your water and also help you increase your daily intake of water, thus satisfying your sugar cravings and keeping you from running to the cookie jar instead. Try to be strict about your drinking,  & the extra hydration that detox water provides will make you feel full longer, which in turn helps you to lose weight. And lastly, many of the ingredients in detox water recipes are meant to give you an extra dose of vitamins and a nice boost to your metabolism.

So what are you actually “detoxing” and what are these “toxins” in your body? This is something I didn’t really understand at first until I did some research.

When you hear the word “toxins,” it’s referring to two different forms of harmful substances in your body.  Environmental toxins & Metabolic toxins. Environmental toxins come from elements like pollution. Chemical pesticides used on the apple you ate are an example of an environmental toxin. Metabolic toxins are made inside your body. These toxins include illnesses, like a virus or a bacterial infection. So fruit infused water essentially helps flush your system of this crud!

I can 100% say I have seen a difference in my body. And it’s only been two weeks since I’ve started really focusing on my water intake. I’ve noticed I’ve had more energy, my joints feel less stiff, my skin seems to recover from a blemish faster.. and it helps me feel full longer!

For this detox water I used:

1 full grapefruit, sliced

1 large lemon, sliced

½ cup of strawberries, sliced

Full pitcher of water

Stir, and let it sit for 24 hours

Enjoy!

Porcelain Pitcher  I use: (LOVE this pitcher. So heavy duty and very affordable!)

8 Weeks of Gratitude Challenge

ecca60_bd548215404e4af4a3ea1d1370be5ca2.jpgI might be a bit over optimistic thinking I can fully commit to 8 weeks of this challenge. BUT I AM GOING TO TRY! 🙂 I think these questions are really great to not only get me into blogging more.. but really focusing on one of my goals which is to be a more positve, happy person. I would LOVE for you to join in on this yourselves, or even join in once in awhile in the comments. Each week I will answer a different question/prompt.

Week 1: Why start this challenge?

Week 2: Your spouse/significant other

Week 3: Someone who inspires you

Week 4: Your home

Week 5: Your heritage

Week 6: Music you love

Week 7: Something you created

Week 8: Did this challenge change you?

Week 1: Why start this challenge?

As I kind of “restart” this blog I wanted to start with a more positive mind. This has been a goal of mine for a LONG time. I see myself making some progress.. but it’s still so easy to get caught up in the “bad” things. SO I thought this would be a fun way to not only get into writing on here more, but force myself to focus on the GOOD.

Lets talk wedding planning for example. For the past 6 months wedding planning has been in full swing. DIY’s, lists upon lists, timelines, food tastings, venue meetings… the list goes on. It’s been so much fun, but I also find myself feeling like it’s a chore sometimes which is sad.. because this should be the HAPPIEST times of my life. I ran across a quote that changed my perspective.

“People will not remember Pinterest crafts, or your bouquet of flowers.  They will remember the sparkle in your eyes, the smiles shared, and the way you glow with excitement.  There is no possible way to please everyone, accommodate everyone’s needs, nor ensure perfection.  What you can control is to truly enjoy the process, let those little things go, and enjoy those little moments licking envelopes with your fiance.”

I’m so lucky my fiance is so loving and understanding through the process. He is constantly telling me everything will work out and to remember that this day is about our love.. not the minor details. With that being said I’m going to start sharing some of the fun decor, and DIY’s I’ve done so far. I’ve found a new love for making chalkboard signs and I’m excited to share! 🙂 Stay tuned!

Snapshot Sunday!

snapshotsunday

My sister The Grady Bunch Blog & I decided to start up a Sunday tag called Snapshot Sunday! Sunday’s are all about reflection on the weekend and getting your ducks in a row for the upcoming week. It is definitely one of my favorite days of the week! So we collaborated and created this cute logo to go along with the series. Feel free to grab the image and join in on Snapshot Sunday! Can’t wait to hear about everyone’s weekends & what you are looking forward to this week! 🙂

This weekend was another good one for me! Friday Everett and I got back from our mini-vaca and were LAZY. We hung around the house, did laundry, and did a quick Target run because I forgot my pillow at the hotel.. oops.. luckily it wasn’t my favorite pillow and I was just waiting for a good excuse to buy a new down pillow, so there you have it, a great excuse for a new pillow!

Saturday, we slept in and then went to Chick-Fil-A for lunch with my dad and sisters. My dad had never been to Chick-Fil-A (I know, crazy) so we decided it would be a good idea to finally introduce him to the delicious-ness. After that my sisters and I bought ingredients for baking festive cupcakes for Halloween. They turned out AMAZING & so easy.. I’m savoring my last 2 in the fridge. We used: One box of spice cake mix, half a can of pumpkin puree, and cream cheese frosting topped with a candy corn pumpkin. SOOO YUMMY & so moist! If you’re looking for something delicious and easy, this is it! The rest of Halloween evening we watched a few movies, and caught up blogging!image1 (5)image2 (3)

Sunday has been productive, and relaxing all in one! The best combo, right? Everett and I toured an apartment complex this morning and it went really well! The place is gorgeous and everything I wanted in an apartment. We’re so excited at the thought of getting our own place together. But with that excitement comes the nerves! We still have yet to decide if this is the one between our finances and timing, but I have a good feeling. Lots more to come regarding that! Can’t wait to blog about home decor! ALSO, I’m wearing my ADORABLE and oh so cozy blanket scarf. Definitely my new favorite item in my wardrobe. Check out my sister’s post at The Grady Bunch Blog for details!

As for the rest of the day, I plan on RELAXING and catching up on laundry. I must admit, I’m not looking forward to going back into work tomorrow. I haven’t been in the office since Wednesday, so it might be a little rough.. Just gotta stay positive! Wishing you all a great Sunday, and hope you’ll join in on Snapshot Sunday!

Mid-Week Getaway.

Both my boyfriend Everett and I had vacation time to waste before the end of the year so we thought hey lets take an extra long weekend and go on a small getaway! We LOVE exploring new places even if they are only an hour south of our hometowns. This time we took on Red Wing, MN. A little historic old town right on the Mississippi River. The drive down was beautiful with winding roads and hills. The weather did not cooperate with us the whole trip, which was a bummer. Cold and rainy non-stop. I’m not gonna lie, it put a bit of a damper on my mood. When you have a list of things to do and half of them get crossed off because of the weather, it’s hard not to feel a bit let down. Needless to say we had to improvise a bit. We did a lot of relaxing, coffee drinking at this adorable two level Caribou Coffee right on the train tracks (my fav), and chatting about life. It really is the little things in a relationship that keep it going and happy. We don’t need much to be happy together, and that’s one of my favorite things about our relationship. It was really great to get away from everyday life for a few days together, and now we are home relaxed and refreshed (he is currently sleeping next to me hehe) And we have the whole weekend still! I’m looking forward to some Halloween activities and goodies this weekend! Enjoy the few pictures I snapped & Happy Friday!
