Easy & Affordable DIY Fall Wreath!

Fall is happening any day ya’ll! I’m probably more excited for fall this year then I’ve ever been because I can DECORATE my own space this year ❤

My sister and I were looking for fall decor and saw these adorable fall wreaths everywhere. I thought they would be so adorable on my front door but they averaged $40-$50 a piece, which is outrageous. So we were looking around more and I thought “It would be so easy to make this ourselves..”

So here we have a super adorable DIY Fall Wreath for about $15.00! Score!

Here is what you will need: Everything bought at Michaels Craft Store, but any craft store should have similar stuff.

  • Grapevine Wreath $4.99
  • Any flowers you like- make sure you look for coupons, there is ALWAYS 40% off coupons for Michaels on the Coupon Sherpa app!
  • Hot Glue Gun- Optional- we ended up just weaving the stems into the wreath but if you want extra security you could glue some of them in.
  • Wire cutter

Simply arrange the flowers how you like and there you have it! We decided to do only about 3/4 of the wreath in flowers because I liked the look of the sticks, but you can totally cover the whole thing in flowers for a more dramatic look.

I love how they turned out and we are definitely going to make one for Christmas too.

8 Weeks of Gratitude Challenge: Week 2!

Week 2: Your spouse/significant other.

Oh I am excited for this one ❤

Lets start from the beginning. My fiance’s name is Everett. FIRST of all, I adore his name. I was instantly drawn to him because of his name. We have been dating since May 25th, 2012 and are getting married October 7th, 2016! (just under 2 months.. EEEK!)

We met freshman year of college. We both went to the Art Institutes of Minneapolis and studied Graphic Design. We were in the same typography class, and at the time I had a boyfriend (a very shitty self-absorbed boyfriend). According to Everett he had his eye on me for awhile but was too shy to talk to me. I first noticed him in the lounge on campus. He was sleeping in a chair in between classes and I remember thinking to myself “he is really cute… isn’t he in one of my classes?” so anyways I was eyeing him down as he was sleeping… (creepy? maybe.)

I remember being really drawn to him and thinking it was weird because he was NOT the type I usually went for. He was blonde hair, blue eyed and really shy.. and every guy I dated previously had dark hair, dark eyes.. and a big outgoing jerk.

A few weeks later things went VERY south with my boyfriend. He had been dating me on the side and had a girlfriend of 2 YEARS back at home in California. (hahahahahahah ok so at the time I was super upset but now it just cracks me up how big of an idiot this guy was) So things got cut real fast with him.. and I decided to facebook message this cutie I now had my eye on from typography class. So we exchanged numbers.. and I hate to say the rest is history.. but really… the rest is history! We haven’t spent more than 3 days apart ever since.

Everett is the most patient and loving guy ever. He is everything I never knew I needed. I think its so crazy how he’s so opposite of everything I dated before and he’s exactly what I needed. It was pretty instant. They say “when you know, you know”and all those cliche things.. well for me it was true. I feel so lucky to have him and I can’t believe I’m going to be his WIFE!

I tell my single friends that it happens when you least expect it and to never settle. I went through some bad guys and got to thinking I would never find “the one” and then within a few weeks my life changed.

So that’s our story ❤ nothing excites me more than the thought of the next 60+ years with him. I love hearing love storys. Tell me yours below! 🙂

Alright enough of the mushy gushy love story. HAPPY THURSDAY FRIENDS! Just one more day ’till the weekend 🙂

Bridal Shower Recap!

Happy Sunday! What a fun weekend. My wonderful sisters and mom threw my bridal shower on Saturday & it was so much fun! I felt so blessed to have so many people come to celebrate the beginning of our marriage. I’m sad it’s over. It’s always bittersweet hitting these milestones during planning the wedding because you only get this one day.. One shower, one bachelorette party, one WEDDING.

It’s all so exciting. I’m blessed to have the most amazing friends and family to help me celebrate this time in my life. Hope you enjoy the pictures, and I hope your Sunday is filled with relaxation and coffee!

DIY: Chalkboard Signs; Floral + Rustic

I wanted to share one of my new obsessions. Chalkboard signs! During wedding planning over the last 6 months I’ve grown to LOVE chalkboard DIY’s. It started with my vision for my wedding. The theme is rustic but classy, outdoorsy and whimsicle. I made my first sign (the wood slab “bar” one) and it took me forever! I was so focused on making my handwriting perfect and I redid it a thousand times! Now I just free-hand it and go with the flow and I find they turn out better! After I finished the writing on the bar sign, I loved it.. but I felt like it needed just a little something more. I had these faux flowers laying around from another DIY and decided to hot glue them on. I LOVE how it turned out & it fits the theme of my wedding so well 🙂 So then it kind of snowballed from there and now I’m obsessed with making these cute signs. Which one is your favorite? Mine is the gold framed Welcome sign. ❤ Hope you enjoy! I linked some of the chalkboards and supplies I’ve used if you want to do it yourself.

8 Weeks of Gratitude Challenge

ecca60_bd548215404e4af4a3ea1d1370be5ca2.jpgI might be a bit over optimistic thinking I can fully commit to 8 weeks of this challenge. BUT I AM GOING TO TRY! 🙂 I think these questions are really great to not only get me into blogging more.. but really focusing on one of my goals which is to be a more positve, happy person. I would LOVE for you to join in on this yourselves, or even join in once in awhile in the comments. Each week I will answer a different question/prompt.

Week 1: Why start this challenge?

Week 2: Your spouse/significant other

Week 3: Someone who inspires you

Week 4: Your home

Week 5: Your heritage

Week 6: Music you love

Week 7: Something you created

Week 8: Did this challenge change you?

Week 1: Why start this challenge?

As I kind of “restart” this blog I wanted to start with a more positive mind. This has been a goal of mine for a LONG time. I see myself making some progress.. but it’s still so easy to get caught up in the “bad” things. SO I thought this would be a fun way to not only get into writing on here more, but force myself to focus on the GOOD.

Lets talk wedding planning for example. For the past 6 months wedding planning has been in full swing. DIY’s, lists upon lists, timelines, food tastings, venue meetings… the list goes on. It’s been so much fun, but I also find myself feeling like it’s a chore sometimes which is sad.. because this should be the HAPPIEST times of my life. I ran across a quote that changed my perspective.

“People will not remember Pinterest crafts, or your bouquet of flowers.  They will remember the sparkle in your eyes, the smiles shared, and the way you glow with excitement.  There is no possible way to please everyone, accommodate everyone’s needs, nor ensure perfection.  What you can control is to truly enjoy the process, let those little things go, and enjoy those little moments licking envelopes with your fiance.”

I’m so lucky my fiance is so loving and understanding through the process. He is constantly telling me everything will work out and to remember that this day is about our love.. not the minor details. With that being said I’m going to start sharing some of the fun decor, and DIY’s I’ve done so far. I’ve found a new love for making chalkboard signs and I’m excited to share! 🙂 Stay tuned!

I’M BACK! Engagement+Wedding Plans+Life Update!

OH MY GOSH. You guys. It’s been 8 months. EIGHT MONTHS. I’m so sad I let this blog go. I really enjoyed it. I’m hoping to slowly start getting back into it as a hobby. I’m hoping some of the great bloggers I met previously are still around. If you are say HI! I’m excited to be back 🙂

SO where to start?! I left off last Christmas. My nephew was just born and things were getting busy and then… life happened! It’s been a whirlwind the past 8 months. On December 27th, 2015 I got engaged to the love of my life during our family Christmas celebration. It was perfect, simple and sweet. We soon after set a date of October 7th 2016.. which now is just 2 months and 6 days away!

In February my fiance and I moved into our first little home together ❤ THAT was an experience. Talk about stress. Financial, physical, you name it. It was an experience to say the least. I FINALLY feel like we are settled and ready to take on married life.

See why I’ve been MIA the last 8 months?!  I’m super excited to be back. I finally feel settled, and ready to take on the next chapter of my life! SO tell me the scoop. What’s been happening in blog world? Fill me in!

Here are some of our engagement photos (Photographer: Shelby Taylor Photography) Enjoy!

25 Days Of Christmas!

This year I’m joining in on 25 Days of Christmas! It’s a fun way to share your favorites about this time of year 🙂 Lately I’ve been very stressed and overwhelmed and just not into the “holiday spirit” but now that it’s officially December 1st, I’m forcing myself to snap out of it! I’m hoping this will also help me dedicate more time to my blog, because I really do enjoy it! So, I’m not promising I will post everyday up until Christmas, but I am promising that when I do post (I’m aiming for 3-4 times a week) there will be something Christmas related! I’m excited so start spreading the holiday cheer! I’m starting out with answering the question “What are you most excited for this Christmas?”

Welllllll… a lot of things! I have a few fun holiday dinners planned with old friends that I don’t see as much as I’d like to which I’m super excited about, as well as family get togethers which are always my favorite. Especially since we have a baby in the family now, I want to soak up all the time I can get with him! ❤ Of course I’m veryyy excited for the FOOD. Thanksgiving and Christmas food and desserts are the best! I’m hoping to do a little baking of my own this year. I’m also super pumped about my year end break at work coming up December 24-January 4th. Talk about some much needed relaxation time! I plan to sleep a lot, get some things done that I’ve been putting off like clean out my closet, and organize my makeup, and hopefully start house hunting! I already have a few New Years resolutions in mind, can’t wait to share them 🙂

Sorry about the long text-post.. if you read that all, kudos! 😉 Here’s a picture of my nephew to make you smile, because I know he sure makes me smile! He’s so dang cute and snuggly, I cant stand it!

Happy Monday!

Snapshot Sunday + Thanksgiving

Another Sunday.. Wow where does time go?! Every week seems to fly by. As they say “The days are long, but the years are short.” It’s bittersweet. I enjoy my life so much It’s sad to look back and realize how fast time goes. Try to cherish every moment! Saturday morning I took Christmas card photos for my sister Jamie and her husband & she snapped a few of Everett and I. They turned out so good, I have to share. I am so blessed to have him. ❤31This weekend was also our final family get-together before my little nephew is born. How crazy is that?! I can’t believe in just a week or so we will have a baby as part of the family. Babies are my weakness. I can’t wait to snuggle him, smell him, and be his aunt. I’m so excited that I’m going to share some pictures of his nursery. My sister did such an amazing job with it, I just have to share.image3 (2)image2 (7)image1 (9)12208269_1169130406449845_3345934606789512387_nIsn’t it perfect?! They are such a beautiful couple… I just can’t wait to meet him. Beware: lots of baby related blog posts in my future! 😉 Saturday afternoon we celebrated Thanksgiving early, since baby is due right around actual Thanksgiving. It was a blast! My family is seriously the best. We ate amazing food, and did our annual gingerbread house contest! Everett and I won! YAY! It’s such a fun tradition. If you’ve never made a gingerbread house, you should! They have kits sold at Target, Walmart, Walgreens, pretty much wherever Christmas decor is sold. 🙂 image6image4Wine & enjoying Christmas decor.. Nothin’ better! As for today, It’s a typical relaxing Sunday, my fav! We went on a long walk around the pond by my house to enjoy the beautiful weather we’re having. It’s 62 degrees today! Mid-November and 62 degrees is basically unheard of in Minnesota. You HAVE to take advantage it, because any day we could get hit with negative temps, that’s just how MN works. I snapped this pretty tree on our walk 🙂IMG_2745I also want to give a shout out to Kelly over at  I Could Sleep In That for the amazing and thoughtful giveaway she did on her blog in October. I received the package on Friday and LOVE everything in it. The blush is an amazing berry warm color for fall, and the revlon lip crayon is a beautiful burgundy color for fall as well. I’ve worn them everyday this weekend! Not to mention Hocus Pocus, always a classic! Thanks again, Kelly you are so sweet! Go give this girl a follow! 🙂2snapshotsunday

Thanks for reading, and as always, wishing you a great week ahead!
