Wedding Details: 30 Day Countdown

Today marks 30 days until I’m a married woman! Honestly seems like just yesterday we got engaged… Where does time go? I wanted to share some of my favorite gift ideas, DIY’s and wedding prep tips. Hope you enjoy!

  • Gift Ideas: Personalization!

I love personalized gifts. Here are some I have so far:

  • Utilize ETSY!

Etsy has been my bestfriend through wedding planning. From bridesmaid jewelry to seating chart templates, they seriously have it all. I’ve found so many easy-to-use templates that make having gorgeous hand outs and unique seating charts simple! Most come in different size PDF’s that you populate with your information and there you have it! I plan to share my final printouts when they are complete 🙂

  • Organize & Keep up on RSVP’s!

You can’t have too many lists. I have multiple lists of the same items and trust me.. I need them all! There are so many helpful checklist books out there. Use them! They have helped me keep on track & plus it’s fun to check off as you go 🙂

Don’t be afraid to bug your guests about returning their RSVP’s! You will want to know an exact number in attendance for multiple reasons. The way I’ve kept track is printing a list of all the invitees, and putting the number attending next to the name.. As they come in the mail I keep it updated.. then you don’t fall behind and end up scrambling last minute for a final number!

Anyone else planning a wedding? What are your tips? It’s been a fun process, but I’m at the point where I’m ready for the planning to be over, and to just be married ❤

Home Decor Favorites; Rustic + Cozy: Gratitude Challenge Week 4

Hello! This week’s 8 Weeks of Gratitude Challenge! is a fun one!

Week 4: Your home

Home decor is my guilty pleasure. Since moving into my own home back in February I’ve gone a little nuts in the decor department. I just love the feeling of a clean, well decorated home! I can’t be alone on this one!

I feel very fortunate, blessed, and proud of myself for buying my own home at the age of 22. My fiance and I worked our butts off and reached our goal together. When we moved in I knew exactly what “feel” I was going for. Rustic, but classic. Chic, but quirky. And above all COMFORTABLE! So I’m going to share some of my favorite pieces and tips I’ve accumulated over the past 7 months to make your home cozy!

Some of my favorite stores are Home Goods, At Home, Kirkland’s and Walmart. I’ll have links at the bottom if I can find them. Enjoy!

Craving Cozy?! Here are some tips I’ve picked up.

  • Pillows, Pillows, more pillows. Don’t be afraid to mix & match patterns.
  • Throw blankets. I’m a blanket addict. Blankets give a comforting vibe.
  • Mini-Succulents. Add some green! I love these mini succulents to add a little natural element to your home.
  • Personal pictures. Decorate with your life! Show off some of your favorite memories. Personal pictures make your house feel more like a home.
  • Monograms/Letters. I think these are so cute. It puts a personal touch on things but in a classy way. I have numerous “R’s” in my house 🙂
  • CANDLES. This is a must. Making the room smell nice with a candle is always cozy and inviting.
  • Natural light. I LOVE natural light. I try not to have the bulbs on as much as I can. For one you’ll save on that electric bill $$$$ and for two it gives a softer, more calming vibe. Nothing I hate more than florescent lights!

Some of my favorites:

Throw Blankets and Pillows – At Home (they have every color pillow you can imagine)

Faux Mini- Succulents Mine are from target but you can find these everywhere now!

Easy & Affordable DIY Fall Wreath!

Fall is happening any day ya’ll! I’m probably more excited for fall this year then I’ve ever been because I can DECORATE my own space this year ❤

My sister and I were looking for fall decor and saw these adorable fall wreaths everywhere. I thought they would be so adorable on my front door but they averaged $40-$50 a piece, which is outrageous. So we were looking around more and I thought “It would be so easy to make this ourselves..”

So here we have a super adorable DIY Fall Wreath for about $15.00! Score!

Here is what you will need: Everything bought at Michaels Craft Store, but any craft store should have similar stuff.

  • Grapevine Wreath $4.99
  • Any flowers you like- make sure you look for coupons, there is ALWAYS 40% off coupons for Michaels on the Coupon Sherpa app!
  • Hot Glue Gun- Optional- we ended up just weaving the stems into the wreath but if you want extra security you could glue some of them in.
  • Wire cutter

Simply arrange the flowers how you like and there you have it! We decided to do only about 3/4 of the wreath in flowers because I liked the look of the sticks, but you can totally cover the whole thing in flowers for a more dramatic look.

I love how they turned out and we are definitely going to make one for Christmas too.

8 Weeks of Gratitude Challenge: Week 2!

Week 2: Your spouse/significant other.

Oh I am excited for this one ❤

Lets start from the beginning. My fiance’s name is Everett. FIRST of all, I adore his name. I was instantly drawn to him because of his name. We have been dating since May 25th, 2012 and are getting married October 7th, 2016! (just under 2 months.. EEEK!)

We met freshman year of college. We both went to the Art Institutes of Minneapolis and studied Graphic Design. We were in the same typography class, and at the time I had a boyfriend (a very shitty self-absorbed boyfriend). According to Everett he had his eye on me for awhile but was too shy to talk to me. I first noticed him in the lounge on campus. He was sleeping in a chair in between classes and I remember thinking to myself “he is really cute… isn’t he in one of my classes?” so anyways I was eyeing him down as he was sleeping… (creepy? maybe.)

I remember being really drawn to him and thinking it was weird because he was NOT the type I usually went for. He was blonde hair, blue eyed and really shy.. and every guy I dated previously had dark hair, dark eyes.. and a big outgoing jerk.

A few weeks later things went VERY south with my boyfriend. He had been dating me on the side and had a girlfriend of 2 YEARS back at home in California. (hahahahahahah ok so at the time I was super upset but now it just cracks me up how big of an idiot this guy was) So things got cut real fast with him.. and I decided to facebook message this cutie I now had my eye on from typography class. So we exchanged numbers.. and I hate to say the rest is history.. but really… the rest is history! We haven’t spent more than 3 days apart ever since.

Everett is the most patient and loving guy ever. He is everything I never knew I needed. I think its so crazy how he’s so opposite of everything I dated before and he’s exactly what I needed. It was pretty instant. They say “when you know, you know”and all those cliche things.. well for me it was true. I feel so lucky to have him and I can’t believe I’m going to be his WIFE!

I tell my single friends that it happens when you least expect it and to never settle. I went through some bad guys and got to thinking I would never find “the one” and then within a few weeks my life changed.

J+E-50J+E-31J+E-21

So that’s our story ❤ nothing excites me more than the thought of the next 60+ years with him. I love hearing love storys. Tell me yours below! 🙂

Alright enough of the mushy gushy love story. HAPPY THURSDAY FRIENDS! Just one more day ’till the weekend 🙂

8 Weeks of Gratitude Challenge

ecca60_bd548215404e4af4a3ea1d1370be5ca2.jpgI might be a bit over optimistic thinking I can fully commit to 8 weeks of this challenge. BUT I AM GOING TO TRY! 🙂 I think these questions are really great to not only get me into blogging more.. but really focusing on one of my goals which is to be a more positve, happy person. I would LOVE for you to join in on this yourselves, or even join in once in awhile in the comments. Each week I will answer a different question/prompt.

Week 1: Why start this challenge?

As I kind of “restart” this blog I wanted to start with a more positive mind. This has been a goal of mine for a LONG time. I see myself making some progress.. but it’s still so easy to get caught up in the “bad” things. SO I thought this would be a fun way to not only get into writing on here more, but force myself to focus on the GOOD.

Lets talk wedding planning for example. For the past 6 months wedding planning has been in full swing. DIY’s, lists upon lists, timelines, food tastings, venue meetings… the list goes on. It’s been so much fun, but I also find myself feeling like it’s a chore sometimes which is sad.. because this should be the HAPPIEST times of my life. I ran across a quote that changed my perspective.

“People will not remember Pinterest crafts, or your bouquet of flowers.  They will remember the sparkle in your eyes, the smiles shared, and the way you glow with excitement.  There is no possible way to please everyone, accommodate everyone’s needs, nor ensure perfection.  What you can control is to truly enjoy the process, let those little things go, and enjoy those little moments licking envelopes with your fiance.”

I’m so lucky my fiance is so loving and understanding through the process. He is constantly telling me everything will work out and to remember that this day is about our love.. not the minor details. With that being said I’m going to start sharing some of the fun decor, and DIY’s I’ve done so far. I’ve found a new love for making chalkboard signs and I’m excited to share! 🙂 Stay tuned!

Snapshot Sunday + Thanksgiving

Another Sunday.. Wow where does time go?! Every week seems to fly by. As they say “The days are long, but the years are short.” It’s bittersweet. I enjoy my life so much It’s sad to look back and realize how fast time goes. Try to cherish every moment! Saturday morning I took Christmas card photos for my sister Jamie and her husband & she snapped a few of Everett and I. They turned out so good, I have to share. I am so blessed to have him. ❤31This weekend was also our final family get-together before my little nephew is born. How crazy is that?! I can’t believe in just a week or so we will have a baby as part of the family. Babies are my weakness. I can’t wait to snuggle him, smell him, and be his aunt. I’m so excited that I’m going to share some pictures of his nursery. My sister did such an amazing job with it, I just have to share.image3 (2)image2 (7)image1 (9)12208269_1169130406449845_3345934606789512387_nIsn’t it perfect?! They are such a beautiful couple… I just can’t wait to meet him. Beware: lots of baby related blog posts in my future! 😉 Saturday afternoon we celebrated Thanksgiving early, since baby is due right around actual Thanksgiving. It was a blast! My family is seriously the best. We ate amazing food, and did our annual gingerbread house contest! Everett and I won! YAY! It’s such a fun tradition. If you’ve never made a gingerbread house, you should! They have kits sold at Target, Walmart, Walgreens, pretty much wherever Christmas decor is sold. 🙂 image6image4Wine & enjoying Christmas decor.. Nothin’ better! As for today, It’s a typical relaxing Sunday, my fav! We went on a long walk around the pond by my house to enjoy the beautiful weather we’re having. It’s 62 degrees today! Mid-November and 62 degrees is basically unheard of in Minnesota. You HAVE to take advantage it, because any day we could get hit with negative temps, that’s just how MN works. I snapped this pretty tree on our walk 🙂IMG_2745I also want to give a shout out to Kelly over at  I Could Sleep In That for the amazing and thoughtful giveaway she did on her blog in October. I received the package on Friday and LOVE everything in it. The blush is an amazing berry warm color for fall, and the revlon lip crayon is a beautiful burgundy color for fall as well. I’ve worn them everyday this weekend! Not to mention Hocus Pocus, always a classic! Thanks again, Kelly you are so sweet! Go give this girl a follow! 🙂2snapshotsunday

Thanks for reading, and as always, wishing you a great week ahead!

What I’m Loving Wednesday! #WILW

Hi friends! Hope everyone is having a good week! It’s Wednesday! Meaning not only do we only have two more days ’till the weekend, but it’s #WILW! I’m hoping to get into the swing of doing this every week. It’s a great way to break up a long week by focusing on what you are LOVING! Hope you enjoy 🙂

Morning SunrisesI leave my house for work at 7:00am and since daylight savings, every morning has had a BEAUTIFUL sunrise as i’m leaving. Honestly, it makes getting up for work a lot easier. I find myself excited to leave the house to see what the sunrise looks like on that morning. Sooo beautiful, no filters on this picture!IMG_2643

Memories. I guess this one is more what I’m thankful for. I’m thankful for memories. One of my favorite quotes is “Collect moments, not things” Do you ever have those moments where you stop and think “I’m going to look back on this and smile.” That’s how I try to live as much as I can. One specific memory I always look back on was just this past July. Everett and I went camping together in a tiny-in the middle of no-where-have ZERO service-there’s probably a bear next to our tent right now-city called Bigfork, MN.. population a whopping 445. It was amazing. We fell even more in love that trip and every time I think back, I smile. We paddle boarded for the first time (SO fun by the way, you have to try it if you haven’t), We did a TON of fishing & I caught my first bass which was SO exhilarating, we laughed for a good 10 minutes about how I struggled to reel him in, and yes I made Everett take him off the hook.. I’m still too much of a wuss. It was such a simple trip, but one of my favorites we’ve ever taken together.  IMG_1730

Isn’t he so handsome?! (the human, not the fish)

Ahhh I can’t wait until next summer. We will definitely be visiting again, Bigfork! What are you loving this Wednesday?! Wishing you all a great rest of the week!

The Monday Blues.

focus

Today was a typical Monday and I hated every second of it. I woke up after tossing and turning all night with yet again a pounding headache and terrible neck pain, the last thing I wanted to do was go to work and sit at a desk for 8 hours. I have to admit, one of my worst qualities is my negativity. I find myself constantly thinking of all that could go wrong instead of what could go right. Too often I beat myself up about that one tiny thing I did wrong instead of focusing on the twenty other things I did that were good, or had a positive impact. Especially at work. I think the first step to seeking a more positive life is admitting your faults and acknowledging what isn’t working. I envy those people who always are smiling, always seem happy, and always have a positive outlook. Soooo I’ve decided to force myself to write (or in this case type) ten positive or good things that happened when I’ve had a terrible day or just find myself being a negative nancy. So here are my ten for this Monday, & heres to hoping tomorrow is a better day.

  1. I treated myself to a delicious caribou coffee this morning.
  2. I finally got my order in the mail from jane.com (love that place) & it’s an adorable ruffle long sleeve shirt!
  3. It was a beautiful fall day today! So warm for this time of year!
  4. My cat, Oliver is being extra snuggly today.
  5. The Voice is on TV right now! Love this show.
  6. It was a good hair day. (always a plus)
  7. I rediscovered my love for Jack Johnson & bought 3 of his songs on iTunes.
  8. I made fettuccini for dinner! YUM.
  9. The new face wash I bought this weekend seems to be helping my skin. I’ll share it if it keeps impressing me!
  10. I realized there are only 5 days until I get to see my favorite artist in concert again, KIP MOORE!

P.s. The image in this post is created by yours truly! I hope to incorporate some of my graphic design skills into blogging, let me know what you think!
